Recently we returned to Sherman to revisit a few of the places that were significant to us. Much had changed. Don was born at St. Vincent's Hospital (all that's left are the very high steps), and lived at 309 W. Jones Street (now an attorney's office).
We met in 1959 at Anderson Clayton Foods, maker of Mrs. Tucker's shortening. Don worked in the shipping department and I was plant receptionist, which afforded me the opportunity to keep an eye on him when he came to the main offices. The building has earned a historical marker and is occupied by Presco. James, pictured here, was most gracious in giving us a complete tour of the old facility.
As for other changes, our first home, built in 1935, was a rental duplex on Carr St. (it's in poor condition but still inhabited). In October 1962, our daughter Lori was born at WNJ Hospital (updated and better). We moved to Dallas shortly thereafter in order for Don to attend programming school. It was a guided choice in retrospect.
